People with perfectionist tendencies habitually judge and measure themselves by what was not accomplished, rather than what was.
Another trait of perfectionism is being highly critical and judgmental, especially regarding themselves, never feeling “good enough.”
Perfectionism usually evolves into a vicious cycle of setting unrealistic expectations, which in turn leads to failure and worsens already low self-esteem. In this world today, we are constantly striving for perfection, and it seems like no one is willing to give us a break
The more a person struggles with and fails to meet their own expectations, the worse they inevitably feel about themselves. The harder a perfectionist strives to meet impossible expectations in an attempt to boost their self-worth, the more their self-worth suffers in the end.
My goal is to prevent and help you from becoming part of this downward spiral of regret and shame. If you are already at that point, I am here to give you some tools to battle this and succeed in this fight!
Do you often feel as though you’re a fraud, or don’t belong? Do you have negative thoughts running through your head telling you, “I can’t do this” or that you “don’t deserve” that? Does your mind replay mistakes you’ve made no matter how insignificant or long ago they occurred?
If this sounds familiar, you might have imposter syndrome. Imposter syndrome is a pervasive feeling of self-doubt and insecurity despite often overwhelming evidence to the contrary. This phenomenon strikes smart, successful individuals and often shows up at its worst after an especially notable accomplishment.
Say you get hired for a new position, but your only thought is, “I just got lucky.” Or you get accepted into a program, and you think, “There must not have been very many applicants.”
Facing feelings of insecurity and self-doubt is something that we all deal with, but when we allow those feelings to overwhelm us, we can hold ourselves back from pursuing the goals we want to reach and from doing God’s will.
Do you have a talent for self-sabotage that you might not even be aware of?
Do you tend to focus on the negative?
Do you spend a lot of time worrying about the future, and what could go wrong?
Do you ever feel like all these thoughts might be holding you back from reaching your full potential?
Many of us can relate to these actions, and whether we recognize it or not, it’s likely that we act and think this way because we’re partaking in self-sabotaging behaviors.
Behavior is said to be self-sabotaging when it creates problems and interferes with our long-standing goals. When we give in and engage in negative thoughts and actions, we create problems in our relationships, at our place of work, and within ourselves.
My goal is to show you that it is possible to overcome self-sabotaging behaviors and give you the tools you need to get started in making a positive change in your life.
Procrastination can often be mislabeled as laziness, but in reality, something deeper is going on. From fear to stress there are many reasons people procrastinate. While putting off unimportant jobs can be harmless, chronic procrastination can negatively impact the quality of life, relationships, and career outlook.
Because procrastination comes from an emotional place, once you identify the root cause of why you procrastinate, you can gain a better understanding of how your mind operates and how to avoid triggers that can cause procrastination in the first place.
According to research, there are two important methods for overcoming procrastination. We can make whatever we’re avoiding feel less uncomfortable, or convince our present selves to care more about our future selves.
From creating and sticking to deadlines for our to-do-lists, to learning how to be more accountable, there are many options for correcting the tendency to procrastinate. The most challenging hurdle to overcome is often the simple act of starting!
Communication is the cornerstone of leadership development, but communication doesn’t mean anything if you’re not able to connect with those you’re trying to send a message to.
If you’re struggling to connect with your team, and want a crash course on some strategies you can immediately implement in order to get on the fast track to success as a unit, you’ve come to the right place.
My personal goal for this workshop is to educate and empower you to work towards reaching your full potential and make positive differences in the lives of others. I want to help you tap into your unfulfilled potential!
Reaching your potential is a constant journey of discovery, growth, and insight which requires curiosity, consistency, and willingness to change. Once you jump on the growth bandwagon, success will be the only stop!
Do you find yourself struggling at home trying to communicate with and understand your children?
I am going to share with you a way to recognize some behavior characteristics in your child, the ones that are their area of strength, the characteristics that could indicate they are under pressure, what could be a great motivator for them and a way to connect with them using loving statements that speak to their area of giftedness.
